Jay Shah (full name – Jay Amitbhai Shah) is an Indian businessman and cricket administrator who is currently serving as Secretary of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He is elected as the youngest International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman, he will assume his position from 1 December 2024 and  till now he is serving as BCCI secretary. Jay is said to be one of the most influential figures in cricket governance. Along with all his career achievements he is famous for one more thing which is his political connection. He is the son of Amit Shah (Minister of Home Affairs). A lot of people try to give the credit of his success to his father’s position but they need to know that Jay was dedicatedly involved in his work from long before his father became the minister.

Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA)

From the very start of  his career he associated with cricket administrations. In 2009 he joined the Central Board of Cricket, Ahmedabad as an Executive board member. Then in 2013 he started a new journey with Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) where he served as the joint secretary.

In 2015, Jay became a member of finance and marketing  committees under the BCCI. In 2019, he stepped down from his position of  GCA joint secretary. Next, he got elected as the Secretary of BCCI, he was the youngest BCC in secretary ever. After 3 years his tenure as BCCI secretary ended but he Pawan Kalyan: The man behind the change of Andhra Pradesh Politics again elected for the same position. In 2022 he again took his responsibilities as BCCI Secretary. 

Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Journey

In Between his BCCI journey, Jay also got elected as Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) President. He was elected as ACC president twice. First tenure started in 2021 and  the next one started in 2024. Again he was the youngest one to become the president of ACC.

Jay’s ICC journey started when in 2019 BCCI selected him as the representative for ICC’s CEC meetings. In April 2022, Jay was appointed as one of the ICC’s official board member representatives. At the board meeting of  ICC, Jay was elected as head of ICC’s Finance and  Commercial Affairs. Most Recently, in 2024, he was elected as chairperson of ICC. He will start serving as ICC chairperson from December 1, 2024 and will eventually become the youngest ICC Chairperson.

  • Jay Shah Arjuna Ranatunga’s Case: Arjuna Ranatunga’s Given a controversial statement where he said that Jay is responsible for decline in Sri Lanka National Cricket. Later, The Sri Lankan Government apologized for Arjuna’s statement.
